Rules

Article 1

The Transforestière is a team orienteering event governed by the regulations of the FRSO federation and organized by the club ASUB-Orientation asbl.

Article 2

The event takes place in autonomy over two consecutive days with a mandatory bivouac location common to all teams. A refuelling is however organized on the bivouac. Access to the bivouac is exclusively reserved for participants and organizers. No vehicle connected to a participant is tolerated near the bivouac.

Article 3

The event requires the use of a map, provided by the organisation, and the use of a compass. The recommended experience for the chosen course is required by at least one of the team members. Each team must reach together and in the indicated order, checkpoints identifiable by orange & white flags, by the route of their choice.

Article 4

There are two participation options:

  • A formula for hikers: intended for teams of 2 to 5 persons without competitive spirit, without time registration. Each team receives a control card which must be punched at each checkpoint.
  • A formula for runners: intended for competitors in teams of 2 persons, time is registered and teams are classified by category (Ladies, Mixed, Men).  Each team member has a Sportident chip that they must validate themselves at each checkpoint.

Article 5

Hiker/runner charter:

  • Respect the environment, do not shout, do not abandon any waste
  • Respect cultivated fields or hay meadows, do not cross them
  • Respect prohibited areas and private property
  • Respect traffic regulations
  • EIn the event of an accident, help anyone in difficulty
  • Dogs are not allowed, even if kept on a leash
  • On the bivouac, limit your water consumption to dietary needs
  • Use the toilets provided by the organization
  • Follow the waste sorting instructions at the bivouac

Article 6

Mandatory equipment list:

  • Per Team: a tent, a compass, a first aid kit, a whistle
  • Per Team member: water and change clothes appropriate for the weather condition, a sleeping bag, an electric lamp, a cup and cutlery for breakfast

Checks may be carried out at the finish of each stage.
The organization is responsible for transporting the tent to the bivouac: only the tent is transported by the organization. The organization reserves the right to check the contents of each tent bag and to refuse any excessively heavy bag.

Article 7

Team members are required to stay together throughout the event until the finish line and to wear the mandatory equipment.

Article 8

Arrival deadlines are indicated on the route sheets. Beyond these times, teams are required to reach the finish line as quickly as possible and report their arrival to the secretariat. Likewise, competitors who abandon must report this to the finish secretariat.

Article 9

The exclusion of a team from the ranking may be decided by the organization for the following reasons:

  • Failure to respect autonomy: external resupply, external assistance
  • Use of vehicles
  • Crossing fences, prohibited areas, cultivated fields
  • Ungrouped progression or arrival of team members
  • Failure to respect traffic regulations
  • Trash dumping

Article 10

A person under 18 years of age can only participate if accompanied by a person over 18 years of age or by a person over 16 years of age affiliated to an orienteering federation (FRSO/OV/FFCO/NOLB) for more than one year.

Article 11

Rewards will be distributed to the first three teams in each category (Ladies, Mixed, Men) of the Runners' courses.

Article 12

Competitors undertake not to claim any rights regarding the use of their image, in the normal context of illustrating the current event or future events.

Article 13

The regularity of the competition is placed under the responsibility of a jury whose composition will be displayed at the start secretariat on Saturday. Complaints must be sent to the arrival manager no later than one hour after the arrival of the complainants.

Article 14

A sworn statement or a medical certificate of “no contraindication to the practice of orienteering in competition”, dated less than one year, is required from competitors in Runners’ courses not affiliated with an orienteering federation (FRSO/OV/FFCO/NOLB). The participant who does not satisfy this point will be directed to one of the courses for hikers.

Article 15

In the event of a cancellation by the participant after the last registration deadline and no later than the day before the first day of the event, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded within 10 days after the last day of the event.
